It's not all about the pay

Sometimes it's good to take a lower paying job at a school that takes really good care of you for your first teaching experience. My school doesn't pay even 5000RMB, but we have great apartments on campus. The building is cleaned top to bottom every day. Maintence issues are often fixed the same day...

th's and v's

I find th and v are the hardest sounds for my students. For "th" I make them touch their tongue to their teeth. "Th" is a sound they tend to say like an "s". For "v" make them touch their teeth to their botom lip and it should itch or tickle when they make the "v" sound.

I am in my second year with my students. I have taught grades 1-3. I find the best way to help them improve their oral english is to ask the same question in different ways or give the same command with different phrasing. I taught first graders last year. The only way to keep their attention is to make it fun and to vary the lessons. I never spent more then 10 minutes on one topic, though it was repated over many days, because little ones get bored fast. If you can get him moving while he's learning it's even better....

There is a good site for making word puzzles called puzzlemaker.com. You can use with first graders on up. However, if you don't pay the fee you have to print the puzzle from the computer you make the puzzle on. It will only download to disk if you pay the fee.
