Hey all,
I am putting some links together for my students. I need some good sites to practice pronunciation.
Anyone have any good links?
Thanks!

These might be good ideas: A monologue from a famous movie they know You act out a dialogue between two people. You need to jump back and forth to pretend to be each character. They will get a laugh out of you jumping around changing characters. Use different voices, and maybe a costume, hat, etc. A...

Teacher Training
I have a question for any coordinators: How often do you do teacher training seminars/meetings?
I have a small school with great teachers. Do you think it is necessary to do these meetings where I show them ideas and such?
Any thoughts would be welcome

One example I thought of was when an ESL teacher speaks another language. A mistake due to a big ego is to speak in the student's language because you are proud of your skills. I know I have had to resist this temptation in the past. You really need to check your ego and just say you don't understan...

I just asked a potential teacher this question in an interview today. His answer was something I didn't expect, but that I believe is very true. A good ESL teacher needs to have NO EGO. How true! When I see a teacher fail it is because they always want to make their point, always want to be right. A...

They are the same thing, and both go before nouns: Despite the rain, we still went to the park. In spite of the rain, we still went to the park. A common mistake is for students to say "despite of", which is wrong. Remember, gerunds (verbs + ING) can be used as nouns as well. Example: Despite living...

I completely agree with the above posts. Students need to read more. Apart from that, I think they need to improve their conditionals for grammar. Native speakers use them so much in conversation and many advanced students still don't have the hang of it. So in addition to all the reading described ...

Why not use something concrete and measurable like tests, assessments, etc? Setting an objective like having a detailed conversation about the future just never seems to be that measurable. However, if you have some assessment tests, or practice TOEIC/TOEFL tests, you could set objectives with readi...

Not too sure what you mean exactly. I was just trying to show the difference between an action that was continuing when the interruption happened, and an action that started when the the interruption happened. I find students never seem to understand how to use the past continuous regarding interrup...

I like to use this activity for students to understand the difference between simple past and past continuous. I write two sentences on the board: Example: The students were studying when the teacher entered the class. The students studied when the teacher entered the class. Then the students work i...
