So far, Troublemaker hasn't had any major discipline problems. He still loves to complain about everything, which is annoying. His little brother has gotten worse. Thursday, he mooned his gym class. For those of you who don't know what mooning is, it means he pulled down his pants and showed his but...

I wouldn't say we have a great relationship. Some times are good, but others, .... The other day he told the ESL teacher we just got (and is his English teacher) that we don't get along. But what are you supposed to do if he's singing or talking in the middle of a class, just let him be? She told hi...

I try to keep as positive an opinion as possible, at least when with the kids. After a first grader told me about something he did his first year here, and police being called, of course, I was upset and I was cross when working with him. It's not really a good thing to be in such a foul mood when w...

The first week of school is done, and so far so good. He came to me for help on homework three days in a row on his own. I was able to get my after school study hall again, only three days a week. That's more than last year. His hearing from a couple weeks ago was moved back. I don't know when that'...

First day of school, and there were some good signs. Troublemaker asked if we could work on homework after school today. Yes, he had actual homework for tomorrow, not just the 'cover your books' kind of assignments. He also wants to practice with the football team. He'll probably be able to be in ju...

I love inservices. I heard that Troublemaker broke into the house of one of the other aides. Her kids were all at Subway at the same time as him, then went in the direction opposite their house. He decided that everyone must be out, so he went in the house and saw the aide there. They both have to b...

I was at work yesterday to help with registration and found out that we're getting a part time person who teaches ESL. She will probably be teaching English/ Language Arts to three of them. (Troublemaker Jr.'s English is good enough to stay with his class.) Two weeks and one day until school starts.

I'm still planning on working at the school. With how the economy is, I'm not leaving until I know I have a full time job lined up. I applied for part time work so I can get some income this summer (and maybe during the school year too). I haven't been called for an interview, but hopefully I can ge...

The school year is over now. Current high school students- they survived. The one who's been here a year was frustrated with the one who's been here 4 years. For an English assignment they had to create their own utopia (they read The Giver in class). Guess who did most of the work. Younger brothers...

He was in a car accident about a week and a half ago, missed two days of school. He's missed two more days because of a court appearance and a doctor's visit. I did come up with something that got him to start trying to get his work done. If he gets an F in high school, he'll have to repeat the clas...

As far as I know, the school doesn't have a copy. A copy of the play on disc was ordered, but isn't here yet.

He was back today. I really didn't expect him back. I have conflicting feelings about it. It's good that he didn't have to be there long, but it makes my schedule harder. They started reading Romeo and Juliet the week before break (break was last week). They are finishing discussions and worksheets ...

Bad news. Not long after my 9th grader came to second hour, the school liason officer came in to talk to him and wanted me to come to his office to translate. Another student saw him taking things from another student's locker. He came late to school, which isn't a reason to get the officer in the r...

We don't have any night classes or an alternative school. I'm pretty sure we lost him too. I hope I haven't lost grandma's trust, especially since we still have the younger student for six more years. He's one of those on the honor roll list that I mentioned before. He's on the high honors list. I m...

The student I started this thread about is now skipping school. I called the fourth day he missed, and his grandma sent him a couple of hours later. The next day, he didn't come, and I had to call home again. His home phone is a cell, and grandma was at work. I asked where he was, and we could send ...
