Should I set boundaries?

Hi guys, Can you help me? I have a very aggressive student in my class. I usually don't teach classes, I specialise in teaching one-one-one, but last autumn one of my old students recommended me to her friend whose class wanted a new teacher, as they were fed-up with the one they had and wanted to c...

Thanks for that. Yes I gave him the exact same answer for feet and foot and he asked me why. Who knows right? We say it as we say it.

Help! Is it 6 foot tall or 6 feet tall?

Hi guys, My friend is a maths teacher. His Year 9 class asked him some interesting questions today. Here they are: Am I 6 foot tall or 6 feet tall? Which is the correct English and why? How about 5 foot 9? Is it plural or singular and why? Also, any idea why we use "lbs" as an abbreviation for "poun...

What to charge?

I live in Switzerland and have run a home based ESL 1-2-1 business for over 2 years now and in the beginning I charged too little. I knew this because some of my students would tell me so! And interestingly enough, not all clients took their learning seriously. Very quickly I decided to charge new c...

How to keep one to one conversation classes fun!

Practical help

Yes. I need to design 3 to 4 practical activities to help my students understand the two usages of FAST i.e. in its adj. and adv. forms. Nothing to do with fasting, as in not eating for a while. More like, he has a fast car and he drives fast. I need to design exercises for my class, so they get a c...

Practical Activities HELP!

Hi there, I need to design 3 to 4 activities or exercises to use in class to help my students practice and understand the two usages of the word "fast" . I've been instructed to start simple/restricted then get freer with each exercise. My students are beginners. Does anyone have any suggestions? :?

Not at all! I am not an affiliate of these websites. They're just normal websites I use. The only reason I don't put the websites on here is because I'm not sure I'm allowed to - I've wanted to but I thought it wiser not to.
