overall teaching concerns

Hello all, I think I'm in the wrong profession. To a degree, I don't think like I fit in with other teachers, as a professional, especially the women, although socially there is no issue. It just feels I guess like something is not natural, even when I follow a given program perfectly by the letter....

Thank you for your nice reply. I have a lot of my thoughts in my head and some of them are still being formulated. But I don't have the words to describe them all. Block on block is a big chunk- based on the idea of teaching one 'subject', sort of like an academic affair. It ıs like a snake dig...

balance of speech, quantity and quality

How do you make a class speak- who don't seem so motivated to speak naturally, for whatever reason? I don't necessarily want to go into deep psychological reasons of why they might not want to speak in class so freely- that their mother didn't love them when they were a child or that they don't want...

Ultimately just make them happy, make them satisfied, but how. By improving their English they cannot not be satisfied. But how? A lesson plan needs structure and there ought also be structure among the lesson plans, to create a syllabus or a compete program of study- for a given length- whether 10 ...

If adults are investing already such time in learning- one or maybe it is two hour clases- I wonder if homework should be necessary. Also people are busy, especially if they work or have other priorities, like being with family. Obviously if they study at home they will learn faster, but my point re...

I am busy teaching and learning my own languages, which I also thinks helps gives the teacher skill in teaching others to a certain extent. I have not had much time or chance to study the theory of language teaching in great depth. however ı get to learn about the methods I am using at the mome...

best methods in your opinions

I am interested in what people think are their favorite methods or systems for teaching English. I am always shopping for a better method, particularily when I find myself at a school that doesn't give me much. I consider by the way using books like Oxford books and others not so much as a method bu...

Structured Interaction (direct method) based Texts

Hello I would like some more information on any other "Structured Interaction" type textbooks, programs- i.e. methods that give teachers a structure (usually Q and A type format but not necessarily exclusively) with which to interact with the students, throughout every lesson of the course. I have a...
