A sacrament is an official ceremony sanctioned by the Church. In Roman Catholocism, for example, sacraments include First Communion, Confirmation and Marriage. I have an MA, and have been teaching for about three years. When I tutor privately, I ask for a minimum of $35 an hour. Definitely ask for payment up front, and, as was suggested earlier, discuss arrangements for missed sessions.
