Real English

Hi, I'd to know what you guys think about books and videos that teach ESL using real English, that is actual conversations that take place between native speakers? Have any of you teachers ever used these materials in your lessons? How popular are these materials in foreign countries among students?

I had an elementary school teacher who hated the phrase "I'm done" and wouldn't let any of her students say it. She felt "I'm done" evoked the image of a turkey roasting in an oven. We always had to say "I'm finished" instead.

I got into a discussion with a non-native English speaker who is a teacher. The non-native speaker teaches the children to say "switch off" the tv/light/computer, etc. I taught the students to say "turn off" the... When the students asked me if 'switch off' was incorrect, I told them that is wasn't,...
