I'm not quite sure of all the benefits of becoming ESL certified, but I do know that it will help us better understand students who are learning English better. We are going to have these students in our classes weather we are in an ESL classroom or not. I also think the teaching methods we are goin...

Two of my friends, one is Spanish major the other a Spanish minor at SFA are going to be helping teach English to adults this coming fall. They have been interested in what I'm learning in my ESL classes. I might also go help if I have time. It would be good to get experience before I get in the cla...

Itza, I'm a student too so this is just guessing. I will be teaching the middle grades (4-8). But from what I'm understanding about ESL is that it like teaching a little child to speak the language. I might be wrong but I think that a person would teach English to a little child like they would a on...

I think these students might be ESL or they are bilingual I am not sure. I am a little uncomfortable with studen...

Tammy and Chronda, I was wondering this myself. I bet it will be hard to teach students who speak more than one language in the same classroom. I do not speak any foreign language but have taken foreign language classes in high school so I can relate to the students on how frustrating it is for them...

I agree with all of you keeping an open mind and seeing the best qualities in each student is the best when it comes to teaching. It is hard to do this, but so many times people judge others based on appearance or the ability to speak the language. I think as teachers and especially ESL teachers we ...

I remember when I was in high school it was required that we take a foreign language. I chose Spanish and a lot what Duchess_Meli talked about in her posting is what went on in my class too. Most of us did not want to be taking a foreign language because we would never use it. Now that I am older, I...
