Re: Does anyone else having trouble filling a 3 hour class?
Hi there As a relatively new teacher I thought I'd ask for anyone's opinions on here - - I currently teacher each morning from 9am through 12:15pm (with a 15 min break in the middle). My problem is that, for whatever reason, I sometimes find it difficult to fill the 3 hours and still maintain that ...

That was a very good suggestion in correcting students, because I used to explain grammatical rules when they make a mistake. Thank you very much FangWB. Your reply is encouraging. Jori, I have to apologize for my last response to your posting because I was in a hurry to go to work and didn't even ...

Re: How to differ /l/ /n/ and /r/?
I have some students who are from the South of China. When they read some words such as "lead" , it sounds like "need", and the same thing happened to /r/ sound. What can I do to solve this? Thank you very much. I am originally from southwest of China. It is true that people from south have difficu...

Re: Inner city schools
I am currently acting as a teacher's aide in a first grade class in an innercity school. My teacher recently informed me that I should be more firm with the students. She does not really have a discipline plan that is enforced, so she does a lot of yelling at the students. This seems to be pretty i...

Re: How does conversation help?
I've been teaching English to university-level Koreans for five months in a language center. Our one by four classes engage in a lot of converstaion, but I wonder how conversation helps students to learn the language. Hello, I am new at the ESL thing. Less than 2 months in Korea. I teach at a technical high school. Thus far their one and only teacher. Re: Going to start teaching special needs - help
I am a full-time English teacher but going to start a couple of hours a week doing some voluntary teaching. The children are special needs, physically/mentally (not sure what PC term is now) - so much so that they aren't allowed to attend normal school. Does anyone have any experience teaching in a...

Teach children a second language
Studies have shown that children learn the best through aqusition. Thus, the best way to teach a second language is to speak the language with children as much as possible and make sure what you teach and what they learn is real life related.
