I like the roleplays and dialogs from the LiveABC publications. They are selling books and magazines across several Asian countries. I've seen them in traditional Chinese script, so am not sure if they are in the mainland, but if they are, it is worth seeking them out. Basically, they come with inte...

Not really aware about official cognitive categories, but I have a list at my fingertips of communication style pairs (from CUP Photocopiables series - Intercultural Resource Pack): systematic/organic direct/diplomatic formal/informal inductive/deductive head/heart high context/low context colleague...

All depends on WHERE you will want to work. In many countries, it doesn't actually matter what your major is. You can get reasonable teaching jobs without any special qualifications. I would at least recommend a basic teaching certificate such as TESOL, though. As you move up the ladder, an MA in li...

Yes, I agree - it sounds like a very good cause to be working on! I also agree that you should do a thorough needs-analysis on the basis of the students interest areas with a schedule of a curriculum outline that you will work along. You only have 2 hours a week with them, though, which isn't really...

Kids or adults? (I assume adults cus of the forum, but another poster suggested otherwise.) I think you could use flashcards with both kids and adults. Pictorial representations and realia (props) will be essential to communicate what each word means across multi-national and multi-level classes. Yo...

For more advanced math terms, I don't know as such. Although being able to express any math term within a grammatically correct English sentence has its varying levels of complexity. You can check out some fun math sites on my resource site below. Check for 'G' for 'games' and 'K' for 'kids'. There'...

These types of jobs do appear periodically in Korea and Japan. I've seen them advertised on Dave's Korea Jobs board. You just need to keep looking. There have been jobs for teaching flight attendants as well as military personnel. As for Japan, JAL, their main air carrier is frequently advertising f...

If you teach children, there's a link on my website below (look under 'K' for 'kids') which has a semi-interactive feature on multiculturalism in Britain. You could incorporate this in a class if your classroom has computer facilities. If you teach adults, I strongly recommend the Cambridge Universi...
