Activity based kids material

Hi Folks! What are the best materials/books etc to use for kids between ages 5-7 and ages 8-10 and ages 11-13. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as we normally only deal in adult or business classes and we aren’t exactly experts when it comes to nippers. Also, I don't have any time to de...

Not sure

Couldn't tell you the names of the academies I'm afraid (I'm in Seville)but there are a few around there. Not very international though. Money is considerably less in Andalucia as well. Standard of living is good though. A free tapa with every drink! What more could you ask for? I'd google it and ch...

Not much difference

That only really happens on busy days. The classes are normally around breakfast time and the phones tends not to ring. I twould be a lot better if she could turn it off though but try telling that to her boss! However, I'm used to teaching people in that kind of environment, some people can do it a...

Bravely soldiering on

Hi People! Thanks a bunch for your encouragement and ideas. I’m always impressed by how supportive everybody is at this site. I think her pronunciation problems are mostly to do with consonants. I went through a form of “vowel training” with her and was surprised at how well she did. This is the thi...

The worst student I have ever had

Hi People! Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on this. We have a student at our school who seems to be impossible to teach. Now, I've been teaching for 11 years and I've had some bad ones but you get through it. This one, bless her, is beyond comparison. Not only does she have severe pronunciati...

Granada

Hi there!
Why not go down to Andalucia and try Granada. The only problem is the cold as the houses are deigned to keep out the heat and stay cool. Lovely place though and normally plenty or work if you are prepared to look aorund.

Hope I can use it.

Wonderful site Kisi! 10 out of 10. We are organizing summer camps in Spain this year and were wondering if we could insert a couple of your vocab puzzles in our activities booklet (the Junta de Andalucia won't pay for books so we have to do the bloody things ourselves). I'd really appreciate it as w...

Opposites

Wow! 5 years since I last visited this site! Anyway, this seems like a useful thread and one that should be added to. I always have a bundle of envelopes with opposite words written on small pieces of paper inside. Word pairs such as: Hot cold, work play, To sleep To wake, To say To tell, up down, f...

Hi folks, Just a quick thank-you for the ideas. This is all I've come up with for now. You pre-teach the vocab and then get them to say the lines. Later they must give you their own sentences. It can be used from intermediate upwards. I'm going to try and turn it into a story when I get a moment. An...

Here's a nice little number that I use as a kind of follow-up to any phrasal verbs that I've taught. It's called "Drop your Mate in it." I use this for mainly businessmen and rich teenagers but I suppose you could use this for most adult classes. After they have completed a phrasal verb lesson and h...

Play copycat! Have you ever met those annoying gits that have done everthing you have done but before you ever thought of doing it? Explain this kind of person to your students and them get them to behave in that manner. e.g. "I've been to see the new "Lord of the Rings" film this week." Then get th...

Do you mean that they want you to do something in particular? What do they mean by "leaving notes?" Can't think of anything at the moment. Perhaps you could get them to write daft notes from historical figures. You could ask them to write a quick "gone out" to Josephine from Napolean such as "Gone t...
