"Shouldn't of" irritates me even though I understand from whence it stems.

Sigh, as an old lady, I guess it just makes me wince. I haven't ever heard that particular change, and I hope I never do. ;)

That's when you are supposed to use it normally, in my opinion.

There's a very long thread on this topic just above yours, in a "sticky". Did you look there?

Oh sorry, but I guess people can see it in both places. I'd recommend you also do a search and read anything Sally Olsen has written. She has some amazing ideas.

Since you mentioned high school students specifically, I've moved the thread to the "Secondary School Education" forum.

It didn't do for me ;) Can you give examples for those of us who didn't figure it out?

I moved this to this forum because I know a lot of the posters here have some ideas about books you might want to get. You can also use the "search" function to see if you can find some of the old posts. I'm sorry I don't have time right now to look myself.

Please keep us posted on how it pans out. Well, I finished the part of the class in which I was reviewing verbs. I used a bit of a combination of the "new style" and "old style" which would probably drive Lewis nuts. I tried (to the best of my ability, after having read the book twice over the summ...

I certainly can understand using "u" or "ur" if that's what you want to do, while speaking with friends on AIM or ICQ or whatever. But in an otherwise erudite discussion, it just sticks out like a sore thumb. Oh well.

I'm just curious (being a rather old fuddy-duddy I think). How come you chose to use "u" and "ur" in your post? In general, I find I have a great aversion to those, and don't understand why you would use them in a post that seemed so sensible and educated otherwise. Sigh. Maybe it's only me.

Did you try posting in the Jobs Forum on this website? I'd sure be reticent about paying money to someone, myself, but I have no experience in that area.

I think if the book looks interesting to you and you want to teach it, your students will learn and enjoy it. I've used the "Live Action English" computer program before, but not the actual book, although I've used similar activities in the past. Take what you like of the methodology, and add what f...

For those who may be curious, I read The English Verb twice this summer, and took notes on it. I decided to use a combination that might make Lewis sick, but that's life when you throw your philosophy out for everyone to read! I've got a class that meets twice a week in the Computer Lab and 3 times ...
