There are lots of exercises and websites online written for ESL students. Maybe you can find some of those and give her some links. I have some listed on my website http://fog.ccsf.edu/~lfried under "Links" on the left side of the page.

I think there is plenty of room for more on-line listening exercises. I hope they will be free.

Sally--was the method you were thinking of Suggestopedia? I never did try that one.

I can't imagine why you can't use any materials. I understand if they want to focus on conversation or discussion, but there are a lot of things you can do that still require materials.

I use the Oxford Dictionary's American version. MacMillan's sounded the same to me to. I think I have 5 syllables, although one of them is pretty reduced. Somehow, "irreprable" doesn't sound quite right. The example in Cambridge sounded like it was really dropped.

The only problem with saying "pin" and putting an "s" in front for "spin" is that the normal initial "p" in English is aspirated, with a puff of air, and it isn't aspirated after an "s".
