TEFL Certificate
There are certainly a lot of language learners in the US and a TEFL certificate from a reputable school would help you in teaching them, but I would check carefully because not all certificates are recognized in the US and I am told by friends that a Masters is a requirement for teaching in College ...

This is NOT a free file
Just thought I would mention that the file is NOT free, it costs $6USD. Its not a lot of money, but for a cash strapped teacher working in Malaysia its a bit too much for something I do not know is of good quality. James P.S. If you haven't got any money to spend, you're welcome to my 131 resources ...

Singular and plural
In this case drink is countable...
So I can have 1 drink or 3 drinks.
You can buy a round of drinks
You buy a drink for yourself.
Buy a round - Is buying drinks for everybody in your group and it is a very common colocation.

Itasan, That is the word... Resignation is the noun and to resign is the verb. Other words that might be helpful... Alcoholometer
Yes you're right... I found this explanation useful: Alcoholometer is a special type of hydrometer which is used for determining the alcoholic strength of liquids. Such type of hydrometers have special scale marked by volume percents of an alcohol in water. It is used by brewers of alcoholic beverag...

Applied Linguistics - The know it all part of the site
Seriously, this is the linguistics part of the Website and most of the TEFL teachers I know wouldn't have a clue about half of the things being discussed in here. In fact I'll readily admit sometimes I don't have a clue what's going on here, because sometimes things being discussed are for academic ...

Speaking for beginners
Most of the EFL books put the emphasis on speaking in the beginning such as Headway, Cutting Edge and Interchange. Any of these books would be appropriate for your beginner. I've also put some basic pronunciation material on my site, which you are very welcome to use: http://www.jamesabela.co.uk/beg...

Sitting opposite
It's likely to mean facing each other....The context is trying to say that instead of getting out of his seat and talking to him, he sent an email instead. James http://www.jamesabela.co.uk/ P.S. If they were not facing each other, it would have said back to back. e.g. They were sitting back to back.

There's a couple of books from Cambridge Uni. press, which might suit you: Interchange http://www.cambridge.org/us/esl/ic3/Index.htm Let's Talk http://www.cambridge.org/us/esl/letstalk2/ Both are light on the reading, in fact they're too light on the reading for my purposes...
