Field Trip

Post by Melissa » Mon May 30, 2005 6:04 am

Hi,
I wanted to take some students on a field trip. However, we are in Japan, and they are learning English, so a field trip is a little more challenging. Any ideas on where to go? Thanks,
Melissa

How about to the video games parlour? They have to write down all the English that they see and hear in the following class. They must comment on their actions in English - I won, I killed him, I hit that ship, I ran off the road in my car -and so on. Try to get as many games as possible that are linked so that several people can play at once. If they can't think of what to say in English have them write down the Japanese so that they can translate the next time in class. I bet there is an attendant who speaks English and can ask them questions as they come in to pay and as they leave to find out how they enjoyed the session.
Or how about a visit to the karaoke parlour? with only English songs of course.
Or walk the streets downtown and look out for English signs?
