Learned-based material

Post by hehe » Sat Oct 01, 2005 4:26 pm

Could somebody help, please? I need to present about learner-based material development and have been looking on internet for information but can't find much. Does anyone know where I can look for this information (Libraries where I'm living don't have any books on the topic). Thanks a million!

You might try"student centered" or "student based" teaching or learning. This is the idea that you structure the learning environment based on what the student knows, is interested in and/or will be able to build on. There isn´t a specific type of student centered material out there. You are not going to find reading exercises that are "student centered" and if they are, I would be highly suspect.

This is an approach to teaching in how the teacher goes about structuring the class, not a specific type of activity. You could essentially turn any material into student centered if you take into account the student`s interest and abilities. You would also have to structure the lesson so that when engaging with the material, the student has many opportunities to question and reflect on what they know and are learning. This happens very effectively in cooperative learning.

It sounds like it could also be what is called, child centred. That might be another avenue of exploration. Like the last post, attention is focused on the child being taught, their needs etc.
Hope this makes sense.
