Simple board/card games for young/very young learners

Post by Jason » Sat Aug 02, 2003 8:54 pm

I recently uploaded a simple board/card game called "WordWish" onto my site that is particularly suited to very young beginner level students and focuses on lexical sets including classroom items, food, animals, shapes, colors, clothing and weather (the basic sorts of stuff to get them speaking in English from the get-go).

It's a free download to non-site members for the month of August only, so get it while you can. The files are PDF, so you'll need Adobe Reader to view and print them.

Hope the games help somebody somewhere out - somehow!

Phonimoes - Phonics and Dominoes combined

Post by Jason » Fri Sep 05, 2003 5:06 pm

Here is a link to my site and a free download for the month of September (if anyone's interested... )

http://www.englishraven.com/phonimoes.html

This is a basic phonics game for young learners that employs simplified dominoes-style rules - instead of matching up numbers the kids try to match up consonant and vowel sounds in initial/final position in basic vocabulary items (which are illustrated on each card).

There are two versions of the download (basic and advanced) plus a downloadable teachers guide giving basic instructions on how to apply the game. You'll need Adobe Reader on your computer, and the files are largish, so don't expect 'em to pop up straight away.

Have fun!
:D
