Tasks/activities to practise past continuous and past simple

Post by Tessa Olive » Tue Oct 21, 2003 8:23 am

Greetings, fellow ESL teachers! This is my first posted message on this site so please be gentle with me. I'm teaching a group of Iraqi refugees, lower intermediate level. The classes are run on a voluntary basis and the resources are almost non-existent. So far I have used recounts to present and practise the structures e.g. 'I was driving along when the car broke down.' I'm hoping you can point me in the direction of websites or books that have tasks or activities to practise this structure. I look forward to hearing from you.

You could take a look at www.englishpage.com

Here you'll find quite detailed explanations of verb tenses, and numerous online exercises.

You could also take a look at www.better-english.com

Here you'll find more of the same.

Good luck 8)
