Post by fiona bramble » Tue Sep 04, 2007 8:18 pm

Hello everybody,
Hope you are well and ready to head back to work or school! I've spent the summer revamping my website and am excited to share it with you. I'm sure you'll find something useful there and at least a chuckle or two :-) Free stuff and ready-for-the-classroom materials!
Check it out: www.eslenglish.ca
and let me know what you think!

All the best to you & yours.
Have a great autumn :-)

Excellent materials for Advanced Students, especially TOEFL

Post by Eric18 » Sat Sep 29, 2007 8:00 pm

Fiona - Consider me impressed!

You've created a strong collection of practical activities for ESL students, especially ones focused on the TOEFL. Your site is also quite dynamic. Did you design it? It's lively, focused, and colorful.

Like you, I've also created a website and published a book for ESL teachers and advanced students who want to improve their speaking skills. My site, however, truly looks primative compared to your state-of-the-art creation. I offer four sample conversation lessons, a handful of selected links, and that's about it. I probably far, far fewer colors. Consider me jealous.

Good job!

Shalom

PS. How long did it take to create your site?

Eric, what a wonderful reply!

Thank you for your comments. You, too, have created a great product and I disagree with your self-assessment re: your website. It is very clean and user-friendly. Best of luck with your book(s) and other ventures.
I did design the template for my site, but my web designer, Star Global, performed all the magic! From start to finish, it took us about 5 months.

It sounds as if you are still active in the classroom and I'll be sending free TOEFL stuff next month. If you register via the site, I'll make sure you receive the next unit!

Take care,
Fiona

Very kind

You're very kind and generous - with words and material. While I'm quite pleased with my product, the website still lacks a dynamic quality. It's clean, but not yet user-friendly. By the way, I went ahead and registered on your website. Glad to be on your mailing list.

Five months, uh? Well, that provides some solace. I will have to revise and update the site soon - probably over the December break - to reach a more international audience. I especially liked your use of photographs with recommendations. Smart and snazzy.

Thanks for visiting my website. I've getting about 250-300 visitors a day, and around 1-2% seem to buy the book from Amazon or a PDF. I'd obviously like to add a zero to make it 2500-3000 visitors and keep the same ratio of buyers and visitors.
Day by day, step by step, and blog by blog.
