I’m a student from Latin America who wants to learn English in an English country. Here, all the students are from different places like Japan, Korea, China and someone are from Latin America and Europe.
The problem is when the teachers tell us to work in group, like a discussion, not all of the students are having a real participation. Because they don’t have the age for the topic of the subject, they don’t understand the meaning of “in your own words”, in their own countries they don’t used to do that (is a new thing for them), or in all the cases they aren’t prepared for that level of learning.
For example, when I change from Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate, I didn’t think about all the reason written above. Because my ex-classmates (Intermediate), at first they had the same problems but before I moved to the next level, they spoke into groups or had a lonely speech, they learn to do that very well.
But now I’m in Upper-Intermediate, and it supposes that the level of knowledge and speaking of English is better, however, is the opposite.
Some times it’s very frustrating and disappointment.
So, if anybody can help me to find the best solution for this problem??
