Word Surfing Cards

Post by will mcculloch » Tue Jun 22, 2004 9:59 am

Hi, I´ve recently designed some "Word Surfing" Vocabulary Cards - and the idea is now available at "English Specialist" (thanks to George)

http://english.specialist.hu/wordsurfing/cards/

The concept gives learners an opportunity to actively develop their vocabulary (and grammar) skills in a “game” which encourages good language learning habits. This “game” involves a dynamic framework that produces virtually random testing of graded vocabulary and grammar items. It challenges learners to use what they choose – and demonstrates their progress over time through a motivating scoring system.

The rationale behind the "game" is also given at the above link - and any feedback on the concept would be very much appreciated.

If you'd like to introduce the cards to your students then simply join the Word Surfing Discussion Group at

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/wordsurfing/

and you'll be able to download everything that you need from the Files section. There's also graded word lists, tests and sample pages from an organized vocabulary notebook available from there too.

Best wishes

Will :)
