Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about how to assess listening skills of high school students? Teaching listening does not seem to be a struggle, but when i try to assess it, I find myself assessing things like writing or speaking. PLease help!

Hi Katel,
You might try having students complete a non-speaking/non-writing task by following your oral directions. For example, ask them to draw a picture of a banana (or something else simple that anyone can draw easily so you are not assessing their art abilities) and if they draw it correctly, you have assessed their listening. You can do the same with a map and directions or with body movements and commands.

Good Luck!
