Motivation and Curriculum

I am taking a masters class on global economy. One of my questions I have to have answered by a teacher who teaches in another country. How do we motivate and prepare students for the global economy through the curriculum we choose? Thanks in advance for any help!

I guess I have to presume it is not Canada or the US. Here is one article but there are many on the Internet. Just Google "How do we prepare today's youth for a global economy."
