I am curious to know who else has had experience with teaching in an environment where the student turnover is high enough to preclude the use of an established curriculum. The school I work for is a private language "college" in southern China, and we have an intake of fifteen to twenty new student, at all levels, every two weeks. These are mostly young adults, and they tend to stay for one to three months, with some exceptions. This makes lesson planning something of a challenge, in that the mix in the classroom (usually about twelve students, generally well-motivated and sincere) is constantly changing.
Anyone with experience in this situation? I tend to do lesson plans on instinct ... the school principal is making so much money he can't believe there is any sort of problem at all, but it seems like a very inefficient way to teach, particularly at the lower levels...
