So, I'm stuck on yet ANOTHER lesson plan for my TESOL course. I need some inspiration on what to teach for my second journalism mini-lesson. Last week, I taught the infamous W questions. I need something new and am not coming up with anything worthwhile on my own. :(

What about reading a short, local news article. You can have the students review the 5w's and h questions while discussing the article.

What is going on?
Where is it taking place?
Who is involved?
When is it happening/ did it happen?
Why is it happening/ did it happen?
How did it happen?

Probably too late but if they are journalism students could they produce a paper and actually use the questions to conduct interviews and cover stories of their classmates and the school? First a class newspaper and then expanding it? They could also debate ethical questions about the newspaper - do sensational stories cause copy cat behaviour and so on?
