I am a high school teacher in Puerto Rico. I am interested in getting ideas, suggestions or web sights dealing with the use of Big Books at this level to improve comprehension, communication, reading and writing.
Please share I really want to try new ideas in the classroom to motivate my students in learning English in a fun way.

What English level do your students have?
Also how old are your students? I thought High School was equivalent to Secondary School/6th form in the UK (ie. students are aged from 11 to 18.) Using giant books is generally considered to be a primary/elementary school thing. Something like graded readers or reading labs could work well with adolescents, but in depends on the students' English ability (and the quality of the reading materials.)

Hi I teach students from seventh to twelfth but their reading level in English as well as speaking level is below average so I thought of using big books to reinforce speaking in the classroom as well as teaching reading skills with really simple material. Something teacher and students can do together with some hands-on activities. I will appreciate any idea you can give me.
