activities for 1st and 2nd grade students

Post by LLB » Sat Jan 14, 2006 9:29 am

I am looking for activities (games, songs, plays..). I am going to teach 8 days in a training center for 6-7 years old children. There are no teaching materials and I have no idea of the level of the students. Thank you for your help, LLB

That age group loves songs that involve mimes, such as 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' and 'one finger, one thumb keep moving'.

Also use a lot of TPR - games like Simon Says.

Some more songs with great actions to keep them intersted:

Ring Around the Rosie
Wheels on the Bus
London Bridge is Falling Down
Itsy Bitsy Spider
If You're Happy and You Know It

They also like these which aren't action songs:

Mary Had a Little Lamb
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

I have 14 games you can play with young learners posted here: games to play

I also have free flash cards to download to help you out with your lack of resources problem.

Good luck to you and have fun.

Happy teaching,
Mark
