There´s about 12 of them. They´re too cool to speak English and obviously don´t want to be there. I don´t want them to be there either, but for one and a half hours a week I´m stuck with them as I´m not allowed to send them home and still claim my paycheque.

They´re at an elementary level, pretty much in the present tense.

I don´t have to teach them exactly, but I do have to do games and activities that involve some form of English usage.

What can I do to get them interested? Please help!

We don't know what their interests are, but perhaps they're interested in the same things as teenagers everywhere...

1. Music - use the English lyrics of some popular songs. Read, listen, repeat, and do a gap-fill. Maybe you can get them to lip-sync or even sing!

2. Sports - make some worksheets about sports and famous sports stars, activating their knowledge. Let them show off!

3. Computers - how about an easy webquest or some audio-video online exercises? Let them surf and keep a record of things they've discovered in English.

4. Love - let them make & take quizzes; tell each other's horoscopes or fortunes; write sentences about the other sex; write poetry (gasp)

5. Movies - watch (parts of) movies and ask them to write easy summaries; read a scene and then watch it; read about an actor or actress and then describe him or her.
