Hi Everybody, didn't know where to post this so posted it here.

I have just started a new forum for students and teachers

I need your suggestions and opinion on this forum.

If you like it, do ofcourse register and be the first ones to make your postings.

Looking forward to your responses.

Hi Everybody,

The above posting is not an Ad.

If I were you, I would have the same reaction as I think everybody else is having - "Another brainwave from somebody, not worth checking out"

Well, I thought I would get some responses and suggestions if I posted my post here, but re-evalutating my post and looking that I am not getting any responses I felt I needed to make this additional posting.

If you feel the idea is worthwhile then I have a few questions for everybody:

1. Do you like the idea?
2. What are your suggestions for improvement?
3. Do you think people tend to hestitate before registering on a new forum? (i.e. when people see that there are a few registerations and very few postings)
4. How to spread the word to make it popular?

Looking forward for some responses this time :-)

Regards,
Tarun

I think a website that is just a forum is a difficult thing to get going. Also, a forum is set up to be a place where people discuss something. The most successful forums have a theme for discussion. The bigger and broader the theme, the more members you might draw.

You'll also need to be active yourself, especially in the beginning. If there's nothing on the board people don't know what to post, what is appropriate or acceptable.

You also might want to decrese the categories. (This is just an opinion.) Start with a few categories and then expand as needed.

I hope that helps

Your suggestions are definitely worth considering.

Looking for more such suggestions from other people as well, so that it can be fine tuned and made popular amongst everybody.
