The coolest English words!

Post by Wereldreizigster » Sat Sep 30, 2006 5:57 pm

Hey guys & girls,

For a game I am looking for the coolest English words. They can be horribly long or terribly short, that doesn't matter. But help me out, what do you think is the coolest English word ever??!

The more I have, the better! So please, bring in those coooool words!

I quite like 'nodule'. Also 'gusto'.

ummm .... hullabaloo

skullduggery

chuckle

knackered

The coolest word for students would be GHOTI

Ask them to pronounce it - afterwards tell them it's pronounced like FISH

They'll look at you funny - how can 'ghoti' be like 'fish'?

Explain :

"GH" sound from "enouGH" = F
"O" sound from "wOmen" = I
"TI" sound from "acTIon" = SH

FISH - they'll love it.

...it wall also demenstrate the craziness of 'spelling'
