Wanting activities/ games for teaching reading comprehension

Post by Miranda_Lee » Sat Oct 25, 2003 3:53 am

I am given a passage to teach. The topic is not interesting to the students. They need to learn the new words and understand the passage. I need to explain the passage. Also, I have to tell me which verbs are in present tense and which ones in past tense. They have 'difficulties' in recognising the tenses. I try to link the passage to their daily life. Still, most of them are bored. What should I do? What can I do to have more students participate in class?

Hi Miranda!

Be strict and firm....

Gain their respect and DO NOT spoon feed them....
