I`m looking for ideas related to reading such as methods, activities, and example lessons. There are many resources on the net but I`m having trouble finding and identifying the most useful, effective material.
The class is for an adult intermediate level class with high level material that contains plenty of difficult vocabulary that must be explained (and understood by the students)

. Does anyone have any ideas that could aid me?? Many thanks!

Hey, I don't know if you are looking at textbooks at all or if you just wanted internet resources. But I love the Reading Keys series from Macmillian. (I do not work for them by the way) It teachs comprehension and guessing vocabulary from context-vocabulary enrichment skills, systematically. I use it as a supplement to my general text book in a general English class. There are three levels in the series, the lowest is high beginner/pre intermediate. So maybe you want the second one.

Teachers, please read what I have put on the PRONUNCIATION section of your website. I am a poet who has made 220 of my own children's poems available with my own clear English voice recording and illustrations to help ESL students with reading - and also English children too. Tell others too. I make no money from my poems - all the work I have done is for the benefit and enjoyment of young people studying English (and everyone else too, including you). Josie
