fieldtrip fun (and learning)

Post by Senorita Daniels » Thu May 10, 2007 5:13 pm

I went on a field trip with first grade last week (I have 3 kids in the class), and one of the first grade teachers had a great idea. She made clipboards with corrugated cardboard, yarn, pencil, and brads. You use two brads to keep the sheets on the paper, and attach the yarn to the pencil and tie the other end through another hole. The sheets had scavenger hunts for the park and cross off things you see from the bus window. Two of my students, and several other kids, enjoyed the alphabet hunt, where you try to find things that start with each letter. It was also a fun way to show them some things that we wouldn't see in class, like algae or different wild flowers.
