A teaching idea with 'non-standard' English

I have put together a collection of non-standard English which most people would consider mistakes. A nice exercise is to show the photos to your students and try to get them to say what is wrong. They might be surprised at how many mistakes native speakers make.
The photos can be found at http://www.jeremytaylor.eu/nonstandard_english.htm.

Those are great - I think my intermediate students would enjoy them as an end-of-lesson filler.

English Errors

I love these! I will show them to my class and we will look for the errors together. I especially like the one on "oil grass". I teach in Austin TX. I teach Spanish down here too. All over TX you will see signs in Spanish and English. I am amazed at some of the errors I see in translation. You'd think that some of these major companies or government agencies could spring for a translator that isn't the summer intern who has Spanish speaking parents!
