:?: :?: :?: :!: We are doing an investigation in Puerto Rico. Our investigation is about the students from the elementary level learning English as a second language (ESL). Here in Puerto Rico we have teachers that are not fluent in English and they pronounce their English using the Spanish phonetic sounds. What we want to know is if the student's oral acquisition can be affected because of the teacher's incorrect pronunciation. We are looking for articles that prove our believes. Please contact us if you have any information, we will appreciate it. Thank you. :!: :!: :!:

Hey research try this site out:

http://www.sk.com.br/

I think the only problem you'll find is guiding youeself on the page for its in Portuguese but you can get many materials in English and Portuguese.

There you can find:

http://www.sk.com.br/sk-pron.html#difpron
http://www.sk.com.br/sk-voga.html
http://www.sk.com.br/sk-conso.html

One example: I can tell you that like Spanish, Portuguese doesn't make distinction between /i:/ and /I/, Now I realised that since I myself mastered the difference my pupils are also developing this awareness and they can (normally) differ 'leave' from 'live'.
