mental vs physical activity

On a worksheet about verbs, we had to say if an activity is mental or physical. My student didn't bring the sheet back, but he told me that one we discussed was marked wrong. It was "For the next four years, Spitz pushed himself to the limit." If you push yourself to train, is that a physical or mental verb? We felt that it is a mental action. What do you think?
