dear friends,
I came across a multiple choice item the other day saying "you should learn to think ___ yourelf, and do not always follow others." The chioces given are "of, for, by, about". For me, i prefer "by oneself" which means to do sth alone. While the key says it is "think of oneself"! I am not sure about the answer. As i am not a native, i was wondering if someone can help me out here. i would really appreciate your help!

It's 'think FOR yourself.'.
think OF is egotistical
think by is in solitude, isolation
think about is introspection
's 'at help?

It depends on the context. 'Think FOR yourself' means that you're independant and don't want others to do the thinking for you. 'Think OF or ABOUT yourself' to me sound egotistical and that you don't care about others. I don't think that I'd ever use 'Think BY yourself'.
