Essay writing

Post by ldenison » Thu Jun 19, 2003 12:52 am

Hi there! I am looking for a book or a website that will help me to teach essay writing to ESL university applicants. They must pass an english entrance exam and it requires an essay. I would like something that has samples that we can use to teach the different parts of an essay. Any suggestions? :?:

Hi

Don't know if this will help but I'm setting up a website that should help with grammar problems. This will obviously help students to improve their essay-writing skills but I wasn't planning to include advice about structuring essays. What kind of advice are you looking for? I might be able to incorporate this into my site.

I don't know of any websites but IELTS preparation text books are great for academic essay writing. They have heaps of examples and writing tasks designed for students wanting to sit uni entrance exams.

If their level is Ok, you could perhaps try on the web page of the BBC. They have what you need, although it is designed in theory for English Students to pass their exams in English. Have a try, they have very good material.
Try this http://www.bbc.co.uk/learning/
