Hi,
I am a student teacher in my 2nd year at University, as a mature aged student, I am new to discussion forums, and therefore, not quite comfortable using them. I would greatly appreciate any advice on preparing sound lesson plans for my teaching practicum. I am majoring in History and my minor is in ESL.

Currently, we are studying Philosophy of History- basing on Herodotus and Thucydides.

I would appreciate any feedback too from current teachers teaching Secondary High School Students. Thanks.

It seems that we have some similar experiences between each other. :o I am also a student teacher majoring in English Education in China and I am new to discussion forums too. In the coming September, I will have to face my teaching practicum, too. So that’s why I say we have some same experiences. :D
To prepare a sound lesson plan, I think it would be much safer for our beginners to follow 3P’s model, i.e. presentation, practice, and production. Besides, we should add “lead-in” stage and “homework” stage to the beginning and ending respectively. Recently, we have designed a courseware for a lesson in Chinese middle school’s textbook and we do follow this model. It seems work well. You can have a try! By the way, if you have got any other great ideas, you can share with me. My e-mail address is [email protected].
Good luck!
Your sincerely,
Vanessa
