Hey Guys!!!
I am going to be going to University either next year, or the following year (deferring) and I will (hopefully) be enrolling to teach English and History (Bach of Arts- English, Bach of Arts- Hist and Diploma Education) for secondary students. I plan, after a year of substituting to travel to the United States of America and hopefully settle down to teach their (Currently in Perth, Western Australia.) But I was just wondering if someone could tell me if their is a high demand for teachers (I am male, if that helps...) in America. Because I wont go their if the chance of me getting a job is remote.

You're in luck sir, because America desperately needs teachers.

HOWEVER.

The reason for this is that teaching in America is a relatively thankless job with countless constraints and enough bureacratic red tape to restrain the Hulk.

I recently saw an article where districts that were in the most need were giving teachers 'signing bonuses' to come work at their school. These included signing bonuses, a living stipend, and free gas. The districts needing teachers most tend to be rural areas where economic opportunities and thus investment in those areas are sparse, meaning no teacher has a great reason to invest their career in the area.

Some other reasons people are avoiding/leaving the teaching profession:
1. Safety issues -　you might get shot.

2. Job satisfaction - your students are knuckleheads.

3. Overcrowding - Jimmy, just sit on Timmy's lap.

4. Budget constraints - All teachers will now be required to provide their own tp

5. Teaching constraints - Your kids need to know THIS!!
