ideas for teaching big classes?

Post by delwyn » Fri Apr 06, 2007 5:00 pm

Hi, I am teaching in China right now and twice a week I go out to high schools to teach. The high schools classes here are massive! 50+ students. I find it hard to do activities with them cos there are so many students in the class + photocopying anything is out of the question. I teach the same thing to 13 classes. As if the school's going to let me photocopy 800+ sheets that students are going to throw away after class anyway. There is no syllabus so we can teach whatever we feel like. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do with them? Their English is pretty good for 15 year olds, they're probably about pre-intermediate to intermediate level.

Have a look at the Sticky above for motivating students and the one in Activities and Games for Advice about Large Classes.
