Teaching or in a Program?

Post by Armbrust » Wed Nov 19, 2003 7:31 pm

Thanks for writing back! Are you in a program right now? If so, which one? Canterbury seems to offer a pretty good course limiting the class size to ten people and promising 120+ hours of class and training. They also guarantee work with their school once you have completed the course. They require you to do about 25 hours of teaching before you receive your certificate and these hours are set up by the school. If you have the curiosity or any free time this is their info.

Juliana, their webpage suggests that the certificate is internationally recognised. I have a CELTA certificate, which is accredited by Cambridge University and you can see it crop up in job advertisements. You should ask who accredits Canterbury's certificates. "International" we normally take to mean worldwide, but it could mean just two countries. Best to check. :)

I also find "Optional social program" to be misleading. Normally, there's very little time to socialize. Army officers have said that their TEFL training was the hardest thing they've ever done in their lives.

Here's a weather link: http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/SPXX0050.html

Best of luck.
