Hello,

I am teaching TOEFL Listening and Speaking for the first time. Any ideas on effectively teaching both without making it redundant?
I was thinking about mixing up listening to songs, class debates, speeches. However, it is difficult to get my students to speak. They like to stare blankly at me. Any ideas?

Hi,

I used to be stared at in the class in listening and speaking lessons and I was in some way dismayed by their aloof looks. Gradually, I recouped my confidence by grouping them and assigning them clear-cut tasks. Make sure you present yourself in an accommodating and supporting way and be as happy-go-lucky as possible.
