hello everyone~ i've been teaching ibt speaking for the past year and a half. so far, my students have been getting solid 30's in their speaking section.. until.. this may. what really throws me off guard is that, some of the questions ask things like, 'what kind of job would you be willing to work even if you DON'T get paid for it?', 'the job that you admire but something that you DON'T want to be?' and well, how about this one, 'a new skill that you would like to learn that is NOT being taught at your school' hmm.. i've been very successful w/ brainstorming for the independent tasks, but lately, i can't seem to narrow it down. honestly, some of these questions would take a lot more than 15 seconds to prepare for a complete response that would deliver the '4 points max'
hello there, ETS, what do you think is the most effective way to study for the ibt speaking section that will NOT bring you the 30 pts. answer that w/ your 15 second prep time!!
Has the ETS gone mad???

They've recently made the TOEIC more difficult as well. The rumour is that it is due to criticism that people who get high scores on the tests can still be incapable of using English in their actual lives. Might I suggest to ETS that making the language more useful might have been a better response?
