If the movies are not finished during the classes time?

Post by scie » Sun May 28, 2006 6:51 am

Sometimes teaches play movies to the students but the classes time may only 90mins. They cannot finish the movie show and have no other time.

After classes, the students may forget the movie or they cannot find the disk of the movie to finish it.

What can teachers do to change the situation someting llike that?
Thank u! :)

What I would do, is ...> the next class I would make a comment of the first part of the movie so that the students can remember what was going on, you can even go into details if they remember. That's all I can think of. There are other things you can do but it's like too much, I mean, like finding pictures of the characters and speak about them, etc.
I hope it can be useful! Where do you teach? What country are you in?

finish the video in the next lesson

If I don't have time to show all the film in a 90 minutes lesson, I can bring the film again and I can do a warming up activity , asking them some questions about what they watched the previous lesson and then I ask them questions about what they think it's going to happen next.

Splitting movies

If its a DVD, you can play the Trailer for the movie to recap what is going on.... You can also give them the back of the cover at the beginning of the next class as a reading reminder and use it as some kind of lead-in.

One more thing to encourage them to remember it... Make sure you stop on a cliffhanger - So you can ask will he make it, how will he get out of this alive etc.
