Voice chat?

Post by Alfredo Space » Sun Jun 08, 2003 8:46 pm

Hi to everybody!!! I am a teacher of English from Uruguay, a tiny country in South America, in case you don't know. Fortunately I got a 24/7 internet connection in these days. I'm trying to use it in my classes up to the max. We've already worked with keypals, surfing interesting sites and doing listening activities. Yesterday I introduced my students to voice chat. First I worked with a couple of teenagers, they seemed interested but I couldn't make them talk on the microphone. Later I tried it with two young adults and worked a little bit more. I discovered that letting them take over the computer is the fastest way to start good communication. But I feel that I need some more information on how to use voice chat, how to embed it in a successful learning experience, and how to motivate students to talk. I'll be glad to read your comments and suggestions about this topic!!!! Waiting for your answer,

Alfredo
