OFF Topic post, need help to register in Employment forum!

Post by Xnap » Sun Jul 27, 2003 12:15 pm

Hi All,

Terribly sorry for the off topic post but I cannot seem to register to post on the Employment forum. For some reason, that's the only forum, where I am not allowed to. For some countries it tells me on the bottom of the page that I am not allowed to post, reply, edit, delete, vote on others it does not. The Register icon is missing from all Employment forums and when I try to open a new topic, I am prompted for my username and password. When I enter them (the same ones that I used for this group) they are rejected. I wrote to the webmaster but no response (yet) Anyone else have the same problem? I read the FAQs and the Newbie postings but found no reference to this phenomena.

Please Help!

Thanks,
Xnap

This should be made clearer to new users. Moderators are you listening?

The job forum is a SEPARATE forum, not a separate topic. You need to reregister to use that forum. They teachers forum and job forum are independent: having membership on one does not mean you are a member of the other.

I hope this helps.

OFF Topic post, need help to register in Employment forum!

Thanks for your response. I understand that the teachers' forum is separate from the job discussion forum. However I don't have a Register icon from the job forum index (http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/index.php) or any of its sub (i.e. country) forums. (e.g. http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewforum.php?f=9) Where should I go to register?

Thanks, for your help.

If I remember correctly, I joined the employment forum first then the students and teachers' forums. It looks like if you join the teachers' forum first you can't join the employment forum afterwards.

I suggest you send an email to Dave Sperling, and perhaps some of the moderators. I think they need to add a register icon to the Employment forum.

Are there any mods listening?

Same thing happened to me. Keep sending emails. The moderator "R" has an email listed - send one to him. Dave has two addresses.

It is a messy system for sure.

Good luck,

Corey

Hey, the same thing just happened to me!

I registered for this forum first. Then I went to the Employment forum, and there was no "register" icon. Seems like a bug... frustrating, though, because I'd very much like to post some things in the Employment forum.

I guess I'll try emailing the mod, too.

Thanks for posting, Xnap, so I know I'm not the only one!

OK, Dave emailed me the following instructions:
For the Korean Forum, go to:

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/pro ... e=register

For the other job forums, head over to:

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/profi ... e=register

Please e-mail me if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks, Dave!

Does anyone know how your meant to reach these pages normally? Did Dave say anything about adding new icons? In a few weeks this message is going to be buried under a pile of others and won't be easy to find. I'm just thinking of the poor guys that are to follow in your footsteps.
