New at teaching, even newer at teaching adults and now.....

Post by Stepy67 » Thu Oct 20, 2005 6:56 pm

This is my first year of teaching ESL (or anything for that matter!!) I currently teach 1-7th grade ESL, but am certified K-12. I am tutoring now with the ABE with my county. I was tutoring only for a factory that is having to lay-off several employees (so they hired me to teach their hispanic population so that when the lay-offs happen it will be easier for them to get a job), and was only teaching 3 adults. NOW however, because of the small class vs funding, we have opened it up to the entire community (not just ESL learners at that factory). The new arrivals will probably be here today and I have NO clue what to do with them. It was easier with only 2-3 people, cause it was more one-on-one (or one-on-three rather) so the atmosphere and planning was different. Now I fear I am in over my head. I dont even know where to start! Help!!
