Objectives in Teaching English

Post by jori » Fri Jan 27, 2006 11:41 pm

I think asking first what materials to use, how to make the class exicting, what to teach, or how to teach is asking the wrong questions. I think that the first question teachers should ask themselves is - what are my objectives. Some of my objectives in teaching English are:

1. To memorize common expressions like Good Morning
2. To write sentences with a subject followed by a verb
3. Interest and confidence in speaking
4. Fluency
5. To express ideas clearly
6. To speak in grammatically correct English
7. To comprehend newspaper articles

After establishing one's objective, then the teacher can decide on the content, method and material. Would you like to share your teaching objectives?
