Chart of mouth shapes with different letters
I have a high beginning student from Mexico who understands English quite well but has great difficulty forming the words. He can't seem to produce the sounds with his mouth and lips. I thought that if I could find pictures of what the lips look like when forming different letters it might help. I have used a mirror with him so he can imitate the way I produce the "b" vs. "v" sounds, but I think he needs something to take with him. Has anyone heard of such a chart?
B grande o V chica
You should get him to pronounce 'f' and to use his voice when he makes the sound instead of blowing it. I taught in Mexico for some time and it always worked for me. For more information look at the phonetics lesson on my page www.englishevolve.co.uk and suerte!

It is called Visual Speech and you can get materials from the Alexander Graham Bell Foundation. Of course, they cost money. I couldn't find anything free on the Internet but there is a manual on ERIC if you are a member.
